Report and Support as a triaging tool (Students)
Report and Support is a disclosure and triaging tool. For students or incidents involving students, when you submit a report, it is received by Student Support and Wellbeing Services. Student Support and Wellbeing Services cannot investigate reports, but we will review your submission and offer you support, guidance and information on which specialist teams your report can be triaged to.
Once you have given your consent, your report will be passed on to the appropriate specialist team(s) who are responsible for providing further support and/or carrying out any investigation. You will be notified of the team(s) responsible for handling your report. Please note that for some cases, once they’re assigned to another team, your Report + Support case may be closed from our end, as once a report is being investigated this can take an extended period to reach an outcome. Therefore, the designated team will be responsible for providing you with updates regarding your case.
Action UCL takes
When a report is made about a student or a staff member, UCL will follow the appropriate procedures.
Informal action
If informal action or informal resolution is suitable, the reported person may be contacted by an appropriate manager or tutor to discuss the concerns and explore a resolution.
Formal procedures
If the matter proceeds formally:
- Reported behaviour by a student will be investigated under the Student Disciplinary Procedure.
- Reported behaviour by a staff member will be investigated under the Staff Grievance Procedure.
Possible outcomes
Where behaviour is found to breach UCL policies, disciplinary action may be taken. The links to the Student Disciplinary Procedure and the Staff Grievance Procedure provide further details, including potential sanctions for both students and staff.
